“Sharknado” is an upcoming American science fiction horror film directed by Anthony Cundari and starring Ian Ziering, Tara Reid, David Hasselhoff, and New York Governor Andrew Cuomo. The film is based on the 2013 SyFy television movie of the same name written by Thunder Levin and Josh Weinstein and produced by The Asylum Pictures. In the film, a tornado spawned by a Category 4 hurricane chases down a group of people in their vacation van, eventually leading to their escape into an underwater shark tank at a local aquarium where they are attacked by sharks. The film was announced in March 2015 and began filming later that year in California with a release planned for late 2016 or early 2017 on Syfy.[1] The film’s title is derived from the 1985 movie “Shark Boy”, which also featured sharks attacking people in an aquarium setting.[2]
